As part of National's KYSS Chapter Challenge (2008/2009) our then Legislative Chair and President Elect, Shannan Stephenson, created a presentation about mental health awareness to be given to middle school parents. The goal was to find a middle school willing to host the presentation, which became quite a mission in itself. Our Community Outreach Chair, Helen Lau has sent proposal letters to multiple middle schools over the past year and at last due to her hard efforts we have succeeded. The presentation will be held at Peary Middle School on Saturday March 13th, 2010 from 9am to 11am. They are expecting approximately 30 parents to attend. The original presentation has been modified and now focuses on the healthy development of the middle school child, although some parts of the original presentation have been preserved.
The school has invited LA-NAPNAP again to repeat the presentation. It will be offered again at Peary Middle School on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 9am to 11am. For futher information contact Helen Lau at helenlau01@hotmail.com
